The offer

The whole thing, in three lists

Most removal websites describe an enormous range of services and you cannot tell from reading them whether the firm does any of it well. This is the opposite approach.

There are three lists below. The first is what every quote includes without being asked for. The second is what you can add, itemised separately so you can see it and say no. The third is the one nobody publishes: the things we don’t do.

That third list is there because it saves you time. If you need storage, or a piano moved, or a house cleared, you should find that out in the first minute rather than at the end of a survey.

The whole offer

Everything, on one page

Including the third list, which is the one most removal websites leave out. If we’re wrong for your job you should be able to tell in under a minute.

Included

  • Loading, transport and unloading

The job itself. Crew, vehicle, fuel, tolls and the drive, wherever in the UK you are going.

  • Blankets, straps and floor protection

Furniture is wrapped and secured as standard. This is not a upgrade tier — there is no unprotected version of a removal.

  • Dismantling and reassembly

Beds, wardrobes, table legs, anything that has to come apart to leave the room. Fixings bagged and labelled to the item.

  • Placing furniture where you want it

Things go in the room you point at, not stacked in the hall. Beds are reassembled before we leave.

  • An itemised written quote

Everything on one page, in plain words, with the things that could change it listed. You keep it.

  • Goods in transit and public liability cover

The level applying to your move is stated on the quote rather than linked to in small print.

If you ask

  • Packing

Full packing, or just the kitchen and the fragile things. Itemised separately on the quote so you can see it and decline it.

  • Packing materials

Boxes, paper and tape if you want us to supply them. We would rather tell you how many you need than sell you more than that.

  • Unpacking

Boxes emptied and flattened, contents on surfaces. Most people do not take this and we will not push it.

  • A second vehicle or a larger crew

Where the survey says the job needs it. If we think you do not need it, we will say so — that is the whole argument for having a survey.

We don’t do it

  • Storage

We do not run a store and we do not take a commission for putting you in someone else's.

Call instead: A self-storage facility near your destination, or a dedicated container-storage remover.

  • International removals

Different vehicles, different paperwork, different insurance. Doing it occasionally is how it gets done badly.

Call instead: A specialist international mover — there are good ones, and they will survey for customs as well as for volume.

  • Man-and-van and hourly work

We quote whole jobs at a fixed figure. An hourly rate rewards us for being slow, which is the wrong incentive to put between us.

Call instead: A local man-and-van operator, who will usually be cheaper and quicker for a single room or a few items.

  • Piano and safe moving

Specialist lifting gear and specialist insurance. We will move a digital piano; an upright or a grand needs someone who only does that.

Call instead: A specialist piano mover — tell us and we will say who we would use.

  • House clearance and waste removal

We are not licensed waste carriers and we will not pretend that taking your old sofa away is a favour we can legally do.

Call instead: A licensed waste carrier or a local reuse charity, both of which will give you the transfer paperwork.

  • Cleaning

End-of-tenancy cleaning is a trade and we are not in it.

Call instead: A local cleaning firm, booked for the day after we load out.

On the day

Who turns up, and with what

Who turns up
The crew named on your quote Employed crew, not a sub-contractor found the night before. If the named crew changes we tell you why before the day.
What they arrive with
Blankets, straps, dollies, tool roll, floor runners All of it standard. You will not be asked whether you would like your furniture protected.
The vehicle
Sized at survey for the job and the street The smallest vehicle that actually does it. A bigger one that cannot get near your door is worse than two trips.
What they will not do
Disconnect gas, plumbing or hardwired appliances Not a dodge — it needs a registered trade, and a remover who offers it is either uninsured or unqualified. We will move them once they are disconnected.
Who to talk to on the day
The crew lead, by name One person is in charge of your move and you will know which one. Decisions do not have to go through an office.

Why the list is short

A removal firm that offers storage, international, clearance, cleaning, man-and-van and piano moving is either very large or subcontracting most of it. Usually the latter, and the margin on the subcontract is where the enthusiasm comes from.

We would rather do one thing, quote it properly, and tell you who to call for the rest — with nothing in it for us.
